    Kokam offers customized cells that are well suited to specific applications. With their flexible and modular design, Kokam battery packs can be configured for systems from ranging from 10kWh to 100kWh.

    Kokam is taking a leading place in the field of lithium ion batteries for maritime applications. Examples of large scale deployment of Kokam lithium ion batteries include electric propulsion systems for surface ships (100% battery powered ferries with displacements of up to 3,000 tons); hybrid ship propulsion to reduce fuel consumption and boost peak power, reducing dependence on gas turbines and diesel propulsion; electric submarines with the strategic advantages of increased subsurface range, higher speed, and reduced surface charge time.

    As with all technology deployments, safe operation requires a carefully engineered solution. In addition, selecting a suitable technology for each application is imperative for successful deployment. For example, the propulsion requirements of a torpedo is remarkably different when compared to that of a submarine. Kokam ensures the safety of the cells by selecting the appropriate chemical components and adopting rigorous quality management procedures.
