ADVANTAGES

LIGHTER AND SIMPLER DESIGNS
An electric aircraft equipped with Kokams batteries produces minimal noise and vibration. It also has a lighter weight and simpler design when compared to a conventional combustion engine-powered aircraft and allows convenient access for maintenance. An electric glider, for example, could be commercialized as a two-seater aircraft equipped with 5-10kWh Kokam batteries for propulsion power.
ECO-FRIENDLY SOLUTION
In 2007, a solar powered airplane carried a secondary Kokam battery so that it could store energy from the attached panels during day time and discharge the stored energy during the night. This design enabled the first “zero carbon” non-stop flights in that year.
FIELD-PROVEN SUPERIOR PERFORMANCE IN CHALLENGING WEATHER CONDITIONS
For aviation applications, battery performance is critical, as they need to be able to withstand frequent changes in temperature or other environmental conditions, while maintaining properties such as light weight design and high energy density. Kokam products are tested to operate in a wide range of environmental conditions involving temperature, humidity and pressure.
The high power output feature is ideal for an aircraft backup power source, functioning in the event of failure of the normal power system.
The compactness of Kokam’s battery solution decreases overall fuel consumption saving both cost and energy. Kokam has successfully designed and manufactured mission-critical battery solutions for a variety of applications.
CUSTOMIZED CELLS FOR UAV
High power output makes Kokam’s cells ideal as both the main propulsion energy source and as backup. Their gravimetric energy density of 249 Wh/kg greatly exceeds conventional standards, optimizing the overall weight and cross sections of the vehicle and allowing extended range and flight time.
